Former military intelligence head arrested over Noyahr incident

(Colombo Gazette) Former military intelligence head Major General (Retired) Amal Karunasekara, was arrested by the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over investigations into the abduction and assault on journalist Keith Noyahr.The Police said that Major General Karunasekara was accused of being involved in the 2008 abduction of the then Associate Editor of The Nation, Keith Noyahr.

Fentanyl seized during drug bust

Illegal narcotics were seized during a drug bust in Simcoe last week in which seven people were arrested.The search warrant was issued at a home on Millcroft Drive Friday. Cash was also seized while four people were charged.A 60-year-old Norfolk man has been charged with possession of fentanyl for the purposes of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purposes of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with the terms of a recognizance.A 41-year-old Norfolk man has been charged with possession of fentanyl for the purposes of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purposes of trafficking, and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.A 49-year-old Norfolk man has been charged with possession of cocaine and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.A 29-year-old Brantford woman has been charged with possession of cocaine.“Our Community Street Crimes Unit has been very effective with proactive illicit drug investigations,” Insp.
